Good Morning. A few things this morning that are fresh on my mind…

*My oven is broken. And all my meals for the week fall in the category of crockpot or stovetop cooking. It makes for an interesting menu. I may even try my hand at some crockpot dessert if I get really adventurous.
*Mary has a tooth that is practically hanging out of her mouth. And love her as much as I do, she's a total wimp about this kind of thing. At this point, I could probably blow on the tooth and knock it out. Or maybe if she just had a good sneeze? Much drama is taking place because of this tooth. It is requiring several extra doses of parental patience.
*I am seriously in love with Andrea's idea of a year of (weekly) lists. It has me thinking….
*This site has sucked me in to page after page after page. I would like to whitewash my whole house.
*I got an email this weekend that said, "70 days until your due date!" It made my heart skip a beat. This pregnancy is moving along at lightning speed.
*I really, really want to knit a super chunky blanket, something like this one in Martha's photostream. But sometimes I think I'm kidding myself. I've barely knit five inches on the baby sweater I started at the beginning of winter. A blanket? Seriously, molly.

*Elizabeth was out in her socks this morning. I told her to put some shoes on. That was not what I had in mind.
Another really, really good giveaway coming up this week.
And we have blue sky and sun.
Happy Monday, friends.

Emma took this picture and I really kind of love it. I had loaned out my iphone to my little sister and yesterday we got it back. And I have been having fun playing around with the ShakeIt iPhone App
. It was especially handy today when I needed to take a picture of something and couldn't find my camera's memory card–which I take out when I download my pictures. Misplacing my camera's memory card is an almost daily drama for me. You'd think I'd come up with a better system by now.
Anyway, on to more exciting things….the winner of this week's Show & Tell giveaway from Wonderfluff is….
Congratulations! Please send me an email with your contact info, and I'll pass it on to Liz!
And remember, use the code MOMMYCODDLE to get 15% off in Liz's shop between now and the end of the month.

i wish…

i'd brought my binoculars to get a closer look at the pair of hawks sitting shoulder to shoulder in the sycamore.
i'd brought a tissue, two in fact, for my nose and the nose of the little one holding my hand.
i'd brought my camera to capture the ice on the stream and the kittens frisking under the forsythia.
i'd brought a magnifying lens to look up-close at the patterns on the underside of the bark.
i'd brought a zoom lens (if i had one) to catch a picture of the bright red cardinals in the bare branches of the trees. are their colors getting deeper as the temperatures get colder or do they just stand out more against the backdrop of winter?
i'd brought a warmer pair of mittens.

Instead, it was just me and Elizabeth. Morning chores. The collecting of wood scraps to stir up the woodstove. A trail of cats in front of us, a line of chickens behind us. And lots of stopping along the way to notice, to look closely, to guess, to admire.
And sometimes, that's perfectly enough.

i’d thought of getting some free mulch from North Star Tree Service for the underbrush in the woods.
