fingers crossed

They are home.

Yesterday morning in the rain and sometimes-snow the girls and I drove to pick up our sheep from the breeder a few hours away.

Now home and tucked in their warm pen they are being spoiled and checked on often, just because. It's so nice to look out my kitchen window, across to their pen and see two white faces looking back at me from the gate.

So fingers crossed and prayers thrown above, this place of ours will be bouncing with a few fuzzy-headed baby lambs come spring!

  1. Every time I get nervous about all the new stuff ahead, I keep reminding myself of what you said to me in our emails back and forth about farmers getting sheep when they retire. 🙂

  2. Exciting! I’m hoping that next year I’ll be able to do all this on our farm instead of having to send the girls off somewhere. It’s so fun meeting all these other “shepherds” through my blog. I’ll need you all on speed dial come spring. 🙂

  3. I just found your blog through Lulu the Baker, and it is so sweet! I’m sure those little lambs are getting plenty of love. My husband’s sisters always had little goats growing up, and they loved them so much, even though they can be a ton of work (and sometimes snuck into the house and ate whatever they could find). Can’t wait to see the little lambs!

  4. Hi, I just discovered your blog via Soulmama, and I totally love the pictures of the sheep. I am a homesteading, home schooling mama, and I raise goats, but have played with the idea of getting sheep. Maybe in a year. First, we’ll get pigs in a few months, then maybe sheep. As an obsessive compulsive knitter, sheep would be handy!Good luck! Can’t wait to see pics of little baby sheepsies!
