lots of little things

Two batches of jam were made yesterday. It was supposed to be this lovely, music-in-the-background, mama and her daughters time, but the straw that broke this camel's back was when the bowl of strawberries went flinging across the kitchen floor. Again. Then it became a solo jam-making session. Ahem.

I think I'm back on coffee. I gave it up several months ago and switched to tea. But I'm sorry, tea you're lovely, but that first cup of coffee in the morning, savored and sipped? Delightful. We'll see how I feel switching back (it's been two days). I do know I felt good drinking tea–just maybe not quite as awake. Ha.

Emma has stolen the family record player and put it in her bedroom. Fiddler on the Roof is blasting through our upstairs. There could be worse things.

I switched to Mrs. Meyer's Laundry Soap (lavender) this last time I bought detergent. I really, really like it and feel like my clothes are getting really clean. It was also on sale, which is why I splurged. Anyone else use it? And walking into my laundry room smelling lavender is pretty lovely.

I just made an appointment for a mole check with my dermatologist. This is me, reminding you, that it's a good thing to do. It's one of those things that stays on your to-do list forever, but really, it only takes a moment and it's so important

So hi! Hello! What little things are up with you?

  1. went for my blood pressure follow up last week, and my doctor would not let me leave the office without sending me down the hall for a long (long….)overdue mammogram.

he is now my hero.(all clear, btw.)

    miss you.t

  2. i’ve had the mole check, the mammogram and my annual gastroenterologist appointment recently as well as blood work. i am now vitamin d deficient. hmmm…and mrs. meyer’s laundry detergent is my favorite. you need very little and it smells nice (lemon verbena here). i love it.

  3. I hoarded my rose petal jelly from last year and now it is almost time to make it again. But do I need another batch of rose petal jelly? Probably not.

Also, I pulled up the gigantic parsley plant that was starting to bolt and bought the cutest little 2-inch start to replace it today. Looked first at the parsley seeds but – two weeks till germination! Who knew? (Not me.)

  4. i need a dermatologist check in the worst way. long overdue. also, might consider that laundry detergent, but i love her dish soap. and hi.

  5. hi!i think i’m making mostly freezer jam this year, for convenience’s sake. can’t wait to try out that detergent! i love lavender.

  6. Oh, the irony! I just made my yearly physical appointment. I’ve been putting it off b/c I just know the BP is going to be off the charts. Sigh…I use Mrs. Meyers hand soap in Basil. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I haven’t used the laundry soap b/c I get the gianormous jug of Costco brand. But have been longing to get her lavender soap. Some day, some day…

  7. I’ll be 70 in July so gave up making jam/jelly several years ago, but when I did, it was grape. I use Mrs. Meyers fabric softener, Basal scent, when I felt my hand knit coin purses. It is just perfect. My dermatologist suggested “All” laundry soap because of a skin condition I have. It is best for me not to use anything with a scent. I love your blog.

  8. Need my annual, and haven’t had it. Strawberry season just started here (Pacific NW) and hope to get out in the fields this week in the sun, to jam in the rain next week.Does that laundry soap work for HE machines? I love Mrs. Meyer’s products-although some of the cleaners can be a little to fragrant for me.

  9. I had big plans to start my canning experience with Strawberry jam this year but the season is rapidly ending. I’m still determined to trying canning this year but I’ll have to decide on a new “product”.
