Their Story: from Karin Frost, ERGOBaby Creator

One of the greatest gifts anyone can be given is the opportunity to be a parent. I remember when my son was only a few days old, sound asleep in his bassinet; my strong desire to pick him up and hold him close to my heart dominated any other need. My mothering instinct to keep him safe, secure and content has always been my driving force, and when I started ERGObaby, my intention was to create a product line that would promote and enhance the ability of parents to safely and comfortably keep their babies close to them as often as possible. Eight years later, my research into the science behind babywearing has affirmed my mothering instincts. I know, beyond a doubt, that bonding with and nurturing our babies from infancy with the help of babywearing is absolutely the best way.

  Carrier

My Thoughts:

If I had to make a short list of baby necessities, a baby carrier would definitely make it in the top five. To me, they truly are a necessity–not only for the convenience of hands-free time, but also for the bonding and comfort of wearing my babies close to my chest.

With almost each child, I have to confess to trying a different style carrier. So one could say that I have a lot of experience! But my biggest complaint with each of the carriers was the strain these popular brands put on my back and shoulders. When a good friend introduced me to the ERGO Baby Carrier, I had a feeling that this would be the perfect carrier to comfortably carry my babies from birth to the days when they were happily toted around on my back.

  Lifestyle

And as most of you know, my first few weeks with Birdy have been tough. Trying to get to the root of her fussiness has meant long days with an inconsolable baby. And in most cases, I have found that snuggling her into the extremely soft and comfortable Infant Insert (which is much like swaddling her) and putting her in the ERGO baby carrier calmed her. And it has given me times of quiet and peace with her. (Not to mention a chance to get a few things done around the house.) It is comfortable, easy to put on and I have felt no strain on my neck, back or shoulders. And most importantly, Birdy is peaceful and comfortable.

  1. Ooh, ooh! I would love to win! I do a lot of babysitting, and I’m trying to show by example the importance of babywearing. I would love to have my own baby carrier (rather than depending/hoping that the family has their own). Thank you!

  2. I would love an ergo carrier, I tested one out a while ago, but the sticker price stopped me after already having invested in a bjorn, sling and another one, I couldn’t justify buying anymore carriers!

  3. i LOVE my ergo baby carrier! the best i’ve used so far! i used it a ton with my son and now i’m pregnant with #3 and in the infant insert would be awesome!!!

  4. I really want to try an Ergo carrier! I’ve loved our wrap and ring sling but have heard such wonderful things about the Ergo and it seems like it would be perfect for my little one, who is now so active when we carry her that having that supportive strap around the hips would be a godsend!

  5. We’re expecting our second little one in a few months and will need an extra ERGO since our first still requests to be our “backback buddy” on every outing!

  6. The Ergo comes highly recommended from a friend. I’ve tried a bunch of different carriers, but have yet to find the perfect one. With baby #3 on the way we would love to try it out!

  7. Looks like a great carrier! The infant insert would be really handy for #4 that should be arriving in 2-3 weeks =)

  8. Wow! With this baby I made a Moby-style wrap that I loved, but she quickly became too heavy to carry in it comfortably. Now I am using the mei-tai style carriers I made with my first child. BUT, that said, I have always wanted to try one of these.

  9. I’ve heard the Ergo is the best and I love the idea of the infant insert! Anything to make baby stuff useful for longer!! I’m following on twitter!

  10. I just became a facebook fan. I’m due in 6 weeks and am so excited to try baby wearing with little one. The Ergo is at the top of my list.

  11. I’m a FB fan, and a real life fan, as well. We’re adopting a second little boy, and our first is NOT ready to give up his Ergo snuggle time. We’re going to need a second one for sure!

  12. I just got one for baby #4. I love, love, love it! And the infant insert is awesome. If I happen to win I’ll pass it along to one of my many pregnant friends.

  13. Is there anything cooler than seeing a mama (or papa!) wearing their sweet pea snuggled in?…love it! Baby wearing is the best! thanks.

  14. though I now play the part of granny, I enjoy baby posts! sadly I don’t twitter and rarely facebook so I’ll go with just the one post. Have a new grandbaby coming this September and his/her mommy is a devoted baby wearer. A nice ergo would be just the ticket :)A fox just wiped out my niece’s turkey hens. She is not happy. She has um eliminated one or two already this season. We have electric fence for our sheep and I think it deters the foxes? I have lots of new chicks and poults hatching and very heightened radar to the varmints. And not too much mercy. Good luck with your fox 🙂

  15. Wow, this is a great giveaway! I have a very clingy 1-year-old and I would love to have a larger-baby capable carrier to tote her around the house. I also know that with out next baby, I could put an Ergo to good use. All I hear are raves about them!

  16. Pick me, pick me! No actually pg YET, but really hoping. 🙂 I love Ergo carriers, they’re cute and lock so comfy.

  17. Oh my goodness! You have no idea how perfect this would be! We can’t afford expensive carriers, so I’ve never gotten to try one like this. We have a SleepyWrap, which I love, but it’s a little time consuming to put on. The Imp loved it when he was younger.

The Beast was due yesterday. He’s reluctant to make an appearance, though. Can I just say that this would be a perfect “Welcome to the world” gift? (:

    Thanks for a great opportunity!

  18. Okay, I’ve heard a lot about this carrier lately, and I’m starting to think I could really use one. It would really help me lug around our 4th little blessing!

  19. We are awaiting a call from the adoption agency. This will be our fourth adoption and I’ve used different carriers for the first three. It is wonderful for bonding and heaven when there are other kids in tow. A friend suggested I try an Ergo…

  20. Just starting to register for my 1st baby. I can’t wait to see all your reviews and must haves! The baby carrier isn’t something I’d gotten around to researching yet. What a fun giveaway!

  21. I’m dying to get an ergo for my babe & to be able to use it with my toddler as well. She really misses being worn! madtownspriteatgmaildotcom

  22. I’m due in August and this would be so perfect. I didn’t use a carrier with the first, but I think it would just be so beneficial for the second!

  23. I’m currently pregnant with Baby #2, who is scheduled to arrive on May 3rd. I’ve heard tons of great things about Ergo carriers and would LOVE to win one for this babe!

  24. I know several friends who are on the verge of parenthood and I’d love to encourage them to include attachment parenting with something as wonderful as this! ~H

  25. I have an Ergo and LOVE it…looking back I wish I’d had the infant insert so I could use it when my daughter was a newborn. If I were so lucky as to win this one, I’d give it to my SIL, due in June with her first. She’s planning on taking the baby to the office with her, and I have a feeling a good carrier is going to be essential!

  26. I have five weeks left before our Layla is born and I have been researching carriers for the past few weeks. This would be fabulous! Thanks for the chance to win and I would also love to hear what your other baby necessities are if you are given the chance to share! Thanks again!

  27. I have tried these on before and really loved them, and I’m thrilled to see this giveaway. I am pregnant with number three and have been really hoping to be able to afford one of these. Fingers crossed!

  28. Oh, what a great contest. I tried a new carrier with each of my kids, too, but nothing I’ve tried has gotten as much praise as my friends have given their Ergos.

  29. Baby #2 is due this fall and we can’t quite swing an Ergo right now though it’s one of three things we need! When Kiddo was a baby I didn’t know about these (five years ago). I’d LOVE, love to win! Thanks for the opportunity.

  30. Ergos are great, I could use the infant insert for our new addition this fall and a second so we could carry both little ones.

  31. This looks awesome! I have the same problem with my current carrier killing my back and neck ( I too had an inconsolable second baby). Hope I win!

  32. I’m not on Facebook anymore so I can’t put an entry there so fingers crossed, I can win with this entry!(-:

  33. i’m due to have my third child any day now and have been debating which style carrier to get this time around. last time it was a moby and i love it! i finally decided to get the ergo so this give away come just in time!!! 🙂

  34. I loved my ergo (which I happily passed on to a friend). Now my sister in law (with a very very fussy nephew) would love it!

  35. oh molly, guess what? I am expecting number three. I am due in November. I have wanted to come and see you but I can hardly get up to dress myself. I have never been sicker! This is 10 times worse that my other two pregnancies! blah.

Anyway, I have never had a good baby carrier. I got a moby wrap last newborn, but it was so complicated! I hardly wore it. I need something new and easy and comfortable. Thanks for the recommendation. I am looking forward to your other recommendations this week.

  36. I would love to try this baby carrier! We used a pouch sling with both of my other babies and loved them but they did bother my back after a while. Thanks for an amazing giveaway!

  37. I would LOVE an Ergo! I borrowed one from a friend to see if I’d like it and I loved it. Just trying to save up some pennies to get my own!Whoever wins this one will be one happy person!

  38. Hmmmm…. I tried to post a comment but it seems it didn’t work – so if there are two from me sorry. Anyway – I LOVE Ergos – I borrowed one from a friend to try it out and thought it was awesome. Hoping to save enough pennies to get my own. Thanks for offering this!

  39. I have been wanting to try one of these for awhile…and baby # 3 is coming in 2 weeks! Thanks for the giveaway!

  40. We LOVED our Ergo with our first and I recommend it to all beginning babywearers! (Wraps are great and I love mei tais too.) Thanks for spreading the word about the joys of slinging.

  41. I love my Ergo! The only prob is that I have twins but just one Ergo. A second would be awesome as I know you can wear one on the front and one on the back at the same time! I hope I win 😉

  42. This is the carrier that I really want for the child that I’m pregnant with right now. I used a Moby with my first child and really liked it, but it seems like there are so many advantages to the Ergo. I’d love to win. Thanks for the great giveaway!

  43. I definitely wanted to get one of these before my little one was born. The budget hasn’t allowed so far, but I’m still very keen to get one soon. Maddie’s still too small for the baby bjorn that we’ve been loaned!

  44. I did a whole heap of carrier research when I found out I was pregnant. The ergo has remained top of the list and now Maddie is here I definitely want one. She’s too little for the baby bjorn we’ve been leant! I’m a facebook fan now too!

  45. The ergo is a great carrier. It would be awesome to have a second for baby #2 due in 2 – 3 weeks. That way hubby can carry one and I can carry the other easily around town. I might even try both at once.

  46. I have always wanted one of these since all my friends rave about them. I am now pregnant again and know I would get much use out of it! I would LOVE it!!

  47. I’ve had Ergo envy for a while now. Everyone loves this carrier. I too became a fan on Facebook, and wow there are some good topics there. Have you heard of breastmilk popsicles for teethers? Great idea.

  48. We’re expecting a baby through domestic infant adoption, any day now. And we’ve been reading up on the incredible benefits of baby-wearing. We’d love the chance to win and Ergo carrier!

  49. Would love to use this with my new little 3 week old! Agree about the other ones hurting your back! Need a solution!

  50. I would love an ERGO to carry my hefty little boy around on walks with his big sister! The comfort for the back and shoulders sounds like heaven!

  51. I would love a great baby carrier. I have tried different kinds and still not found one I love. It would be great for baby #3 and eventually #4 😉

  52. I’m expecting baby 3 this summer and will also be walking my 5 year old to school this fall. I’d LOVE a great carrier for the walk.

  53. I love ergo. My daughter is almost two now, but I would love one for her future siblings. thanks for the giveaway.

  54. I’m a McGuirk fan from way back; Terry and all the Pearlsteins are my second family over here in Idaho and I followed the link from Maggie’s Facebook page. Your girls are adorable!

  55. That does look cool! There are so many choices out there it’s hard to decide which would be best for baby. But this one sounds promising!

  56. I have always wanted one, the grey one is sooo cute! I also like the pink. I hear they are the best! Great giveaway.

  57. we are expecting our first little one in a few weeks and i have been stumped about which carrier to get. this one sounds like exactly what i am looking for!!

  58. I love my ergobaby carrier but it would be soooo nice to have two, especially since a couple of my friends can’t afford one and I’d love them to have a great experience with one, too! When my youngest was fussy and the four older ones needed attention, too, the carrier was the ultimate solution!

  59. Wow! What a generous giveaway! I have an Ergo from my last baby that I love and would really like to have an infant insert to use in 7 or so weeks when #5 shows up. I would love to bless someone else with an Ergo carrier of her own. Unless of course my almost 3 year-old decides she can’t give up her Ergo for “her” baby 🙂

  60. I would love an ERGO carrier! Several of my mommy friends have them and report that daddies and grandparents find them easy to use too. 🙂

  61. I have been dying to get an Ergo baby carrier and am pregnant with my third child now, so this would be perfect timing for me. I am so excited for the chance to win!

  62. My bjorn is not working anymore, and this looks like a great alternative! Would love to try it!

  63. I would love to win one of these. I just love holding babies close. Our first one is due in November. I love all these giveaways, thanks!

  64. i’ve just borrowed an ergo for a trip & loved it. would love to have one of my own. 🙂

  65. I’ve heard so many good things about the Ergo and I’m definitely looking for something the husband can use!

  66. I’d love an entry in this. Our first baby is now 1 month old and she loves to be held. In fact, if she is awake, then she demands to be held. This would free up my hands so I can get some jobs done
