on my mind

Good Morning. A few things this morning that are fresh on my mind…

i told her

*My oven is broken. And all my meals for the week fall in the category of crockpot or stovetop cooking. It makes for an interesting menu. I may even try my hand at some crockpot dessert if I get really adventurous.

*Mary has a tooth that is practically hanging out of her mouth. And love her as much as I do, she's a total wimp about this kind of thing. At this point, I could probably blow on the tooth and knock it out. Or maybe if she just had a good sneeze? Much drama is taking place because of this tooth. It is requiring several extra doses of parental patience.

*I am seriously in love with Andrea's idea of a year of (weekly) lists. It has me thinking….

*This site has sucked me in to page after page after page. I would like to whitewash my whole house.

*I got an email this weekend that said, "70 days until your due date!" It made my heart skip a beat. This pregnancy is moving along at lightning speed.

*I really, really want to knit a super chunky blanket, something like this one in Martha's photostream. But sometimes I think I'm kidding myself. I've barely knit five inches on the baby sweater I started at the beginning of winter. A blanket? Seriously, molly.

this is not what i had in mind

*Elizabeth was out in her socks this morning. I told her to put some shoes on. That was not what I had in mind.

Another really, really good giveaway coming up this week.

And we have blue sky and sun.

Happy Monday, friends.

  1. happy monday molly!i love the list idea. and crockpot cooking! i have a bit of that planned this week in the form of a big stew with lots of root veg. (also- e makes applesauce in the crockpot all the time… does that count for dessert? 🙂 )

  2. Our favorite crock pot meal is Mile High Enchilada Pie from the Rival Crock Pot recipe book (got mine at B&N) on the bargain book rack. It’s a gem of a book. You can easily double this recipe. We love it!

5 six inch tortillas1 12 oz jar of salsa1 15.5 oz can of kidney beans, rinsed and drained1 cup shredded cooked chicken1 cup monterey jack cheese

Lightly grease bottom of crock. Place one tortilla on bottom of slow cooker. Top with small amt. of salsa, beans, chicken and cheese. Continue layering using remaining ingredients, ending with cheese. Cook on low 6 to 8 hours or on high 3 to 4 hours. Serves 4.

  3. I like your update – in a list like that. I like lists.

And oh my, the kiddos always test our patience I believe. In one way or another, it changes all the time, but there is always something it seems.

I really want to knit a baby blanket. I’ve never knit anything very large in my life. Not sure what is going on.

  4. oooh another scandi design blog to add to my list, lovely. It’s funny when you said your oven is broken- it made me think that I don’t cook hardly anything in the oven- only maybe once every 2 months. EVERYTHING I cook (even with all my good intentions of using the crockpot) is stove top. Apart from baking of course- but that doesn’t happen much around here since I gave up sugar. Interesting. As for the tooth- yank it while she’s sleeping. I was such a tooth puller outer as a kid. I love pulling my kids’ teeth out too. Hate the dilly dallying and tears about it. Oh and that 4th pregnancy- hello! Don’t blink- you’ll miss it. My 4th “baby” was 9 years old a month ago. You think the pregnancy goes quickly! Have a really good week Molly- and give that chunky blanket a go. I find if you are enjoying what you’re knitting, if it’s a little challenging, but not too much, you will get it done.

  5. I was all set to tell you the story about how we discovered one Christmas morning that our oven was broken…and how we made do with stove-top or toaster-oven meals for almost three months. We had the new oven delivered on my husband’s birthday–and that night I went into labor and our second daughter was born the next morning. Then I realized that that means that almost eight years has passed…and I am just marvelling at how quickly those years have gone!

  6. Been there, done that (with the no oven situation)! My oven’s bottom element caught on fire and burned like a sparkler, undistinguishable, until the firemen arrived. It’s not too hard to deal for a while. Do you have an electric wok? That helps. There’s lots of foods to make in alternative ways – I just made yogurt with a heating pad and a cardboard box!

  7. Love the owl PJs, gave them to my sister for Christmas, and her husband calls them her “Hooters outfit” ;)Do you have a gas grill? Nothing like some good burgers from the grill in the middle of winter. My girl is also a wimp about her loose teeth and won’t let me near them. My sister (of the Hooters PJs) is a dental hygenist, so she’s allowed to look, and she pulled a “hanger” out this past weekend.

  8. reasons I love lists:

    1.2.3.

ha ha! I do LOVE lists. I am such a lister. When I taught school I had like 6 clipboards with lists on them going and going. …. always listing!

  9. I just linked to the scandinavian site…. I saw a white piano I am loving… I am always trying to convince David to let me paint the piano… we both liked that picture!

We are really sick over here, but when we are better we need to come visit and bring something stove/oven cooked!

  10. Love the pjs!! Those are my (12 mos old) daughter’s Christmas ones….and my mother has some to match her. Haha! Nanas are funny. 🙂

Love the list – I do really well with lists somehow and I’m glad to see that link.

Love your site – not sure if I’ve ever commented, but wanted to let you know that you have, yet another, faithful reader. 🙂
