I guess it’s time to spill the beans

some news

Good morning, friends.

As I sit here this morning, (oh! afternoon, actually)… I've given my girls a break from school. They are off running around in the breezy, sunny outdoors, soaking up the sun and stretching stiff, creaky school-time bodies.

And I am here, enjoying a few moments of quiet before I head into the kitchen to determine what "delicacies" to put on the table for lunch.

But today, today! is the day that I have decided to spill the beans. I have decided it's time to let you in on my secret. My news.

I am happy to share with all of you that I am expecting baby number four at the end of March.

I am blissfully happy to be two weeks into my second trimester, after the most difficult first trimester I have ever experienced.

I can only say that what I went through bordered on what I almost have considered depression. A complete lack of energy. A constant fog. A pile of emotion. A whole lot of exhaustion. A lack of interest in anything. And a constant state of nausea.

But thankfully, as the second trimester approached the fog lifted, and I finally find myself returning to normal.

And while I am being thankful–I could not have made it through that first trimester without my wonderful husband. Who not only worked all day, but became mother and homemaker by night. And when I (often) came to him in tears, drowning in guilt over what I wasn't doing, he simply said, "Your job is to grow a baby and rest. That is all you need to worry about right now."

I've been hesitant to share my news after my experience last fall, and I still find myself somewhat cautious. But as my husband reminds me, "telling people means more people to pray for the health and care of this new baby".

We are happy. The girls are ecstatic. Baby dolls are the new "it" toy around here. Elizabeth tells me she can see the baby in my belly button and "shhhh. he's sleepin'. " And they throw around names like "Texas" and "Susannah".

I think I'll go make some lunch and work on that list of names…..

Good morning, friends.

As I sit here this morning, (oh! afternoon, actually)… I’ve given my girls a break from school. They are off running around in the breezy, sunny outdoors, soaking up the sun and stretching stiff, creaky school-time bodies.

I am happy to share with all of you that I am expecting baby number four at the end of March. If you’re also pregnant, you can contact Tidewater Physicians For Women for an ultrasound.

I am blissfully happy to be two weeks into my second trimester, after the most difficult first trimester I have ever experienced.

  1. oh! wonderful news!

and what a sweet husband you have!

i am praying right now that this little one grows all healthy and strong, and that you have lots of energy and happiness!

  2. Could there be nicer beans to spill? :)Yes! We join you in praying! And when the beans fully spill, you’ll hold the sweetest bean of all, kiss that beautiful bald head, and we’ll sing the Glory Hallelujah chorus with you!So happy for you, Molly…So thankful with you, Molly…

So much love to you…All’s grace,Ann

  3. Congrats! This is such an exciting news. Wishing you all the best with this pregnancy.I am due 2/21 and the time could not come sooner. Seating on lunch break enjoying the little movements and kicks.

  4. I had a miscarriage in November 2007, and just had a healthy girl in March 2009. I, too, had a terrible first trimester (both times). I say this not to just talk about myself, but, especially with similar timelines, to say I can certainly empathize. I wish you all the best and am very happy for you. You will certainly be in my thoughts and prayers.

  5. Hurrah! Congrats for you, Molly! I hope it is smooth sailing from here on out.

FWIW: My post-mc pregnancy with annmarie was very strange and filled with all sorts of first time emotions that lifted mid-2nd as well. That must be pretty normal. Glad you are feeling better! ( hugs )

  6. Congratulations!!! That’s wonderful news! Glad to hear that the fog has lifted and that you’re feeling so much better! Congratulations again!!

  7. Molly!!! Yay! I’m so so glad that this is happening for you. I have been feeling really nervous about this post-mc pregnancy of mine. It still just doesn’t seem real. I’m thrilled about your news and excited that I have someone to share this journey with, since I’m also due at the end of March. Squee!

  8. Prayers and congratulations and also tears reading your last experience…prayers for health and joy and safety and a fog lifting all the way until it’s gone and replaced with giggles and deep sleep and yummy foods that you can enjoy…and a healthy little baby soaking it all up.

    xo

  9. Molly, I had a tiny little inkling that this was why you’d been so quiet. A little bit about “news” last week confirmed it. Can’t wait to see you in a few weeks. I’m so, so happy for you.

  10. Woohoo! I’ve been hoping this post would come sooner than later. Congrats to you and your fam. That’s awesome! And so glad you’re feeling better. Whew. I’m on the tail end of the not getting anything done ’cause I’m growing a baby. All the best for you and you will certainly be in my prayer. P.S. I vote for Tex.

  11. Congratulations!!!!

I have a 2 month old baby here with me and also had a miscarriage last summer. Nate was born almost a year to the day after we lost the baby. It amazes me how emotional I still am about the baby we lost, even with a healthy baby here. I hope that’s not inappropriate to say. Its just that evey baby makes it right into our heart the minute we know of it’s presence. It’s so normal to be nervous but also know that the One who Created this being has it wrapped in His arms.

  12. Wahooooooo! Big huge congrats, Molly and family! I could not grin any wider, of that I’m certain! And yeah… I’m totally digging on “Tex” :-)You and your little belly bug will be in my thoughts and prayers!

  13. Yay, yes, wahoo! Congratulations! I’ve been hoping…

We miscarried about the same time last year (if I remember correctly we were a month apart). I was so worried when I realized I was pregnant in late November. But Josiah arrived, hale and hearty, in July. I really understand that ‘fog’ you described.

You and Bean (and the rest of the fam of course) will definitely be in my prayers.

  14. Congratulations! I’m finding myself a bit jealous. I have just sent my youngest of 3 off to kindergarten, and suddenly, a new baby sounds heavenly. My husband likes to point out that in 5 years, the new baby would be off to kindergarten too. Sigh . . . I wish it would slow down! Best wishes to all of you!

  15. Congratulations!! What wonderful news. I too am due at the end of march and I too have really struggled with this pregnancy. Much harder than previously and am still sick at 15 weeks. However, I am sure we will all be glowing soon. Wishing you all the best.

  16. Well I’m glad the cat is now out of the bag. And I have a feeling this one just may be a boy. I felt like that when I was pregnant with Tristan until about 16 or 18 weeks. It was horrible. I’ve been thinking of you these weeks.

  17. Congratulations…I am also due in March, after a similar experience last Febraury. So, here’s to us. Second-trimesters! SOmewhat more engery! Less fog! Hurrah!

  18. Congratulations!! I am laughing because I am going through the exact same guilt about not being able to do anything because of this horrible, horrible morning sickness and tiredness. My husband tells me the exact same thing about just worrying about growing baby. This is my #4 too (due late April). I swear the more you have, the cuter they get!

  19. Congrads! My husband is the one who told me about your blog , you guys went to high school together. “Jeremy K” He said you were one of the neatest people he remembered. So I have been following your blog for a while and have really enjoyed it! Just wanted to finally say Hi!!PS- I put in a vote for the say of the baby’s name should be….. Roosevelt….. hahahhaaa! Just kidding!

  20. Such wonderful news, Molly! Congratulations! I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better now and I like the idea of more people knowing means more people wishing you and the baby all the best. I’ll be thinking of you!

  21. Congratulations!!!! So happy for you – and the new fourth baby bean…your husband sounds like such a great person. Yes yes prayers being said here for a healthy baby and continued blessed farm family.

  22. That first baby after a miscarriage is scary. But then all babies after a miscarriage can be scary. After my miscarriage I was so worried my next baby would do the same. He came out healthy and fat! Then I spotted with the third baby and I was so worried. I made it through just fine and she is such a beautiful little doll. But my goodness anytime something hurt or felt slightly off I was so nervous. Congrats and enjoy the wonderfulness of the second trimester!

  23. Congratulations! I love reading your blog and hope your pregnancy goes so well. We’re growing our 7th and I felt like a flat line version of myself for the first trimester. What joy to feel renewed and strengthened after a long walk in the desert! God bless!

  24. Molly! Really?! (I think I just typed the same thing to Sarah earlier today!) Congratulations!

I’ll be thinking smooth sailin’, happy healthy baby thoughts for you. 🙂

  25. Congratulations Molly! I agree, you should listen to your husband! 🙂 I will pray for this new addition to your family.

  26. awww congrats!! We’ll be keeping you, the baby & your family in our prayers! Keep brewing that nice healthy baby and get all the rest you need!

  27. Yay! This is beautiful, wonderful news! Congratulations! (I loved sharing my pregnancy with the bloggy gals. What little of it I shared, that is. Since I only posted about once a month during that entire awful escapade. I have bad pregnancies, but that one was definitely the worst! Anyway, sharing bits with the blogging ladies made it a little bit sweeter. My long long way of saying, this is fun! And you’ll get through the pregnancy! My sister had her first baby today. It goes fast!)

  28. Congratulations! We just had a beautiful lil’ girl late March this year. Being pregnant through last winter definitley helped us on the heating bills 😉 We have some great memories of last fourth of July too. :0 ) So excited for your family, thanks for sharing.

  29. I am delurking to wish you a hearty congratulations! And yes, your most important job right now is growing a wonderful little person. It is hard work! I’m glad you are feeling better.

  30. Oh, that dreadful nausea. I recall it only too vividly! With my second pregnancy it was almost a constant in the first 4 months until one day suddenly it was there no more. The lack of energy, too, made it hard to even enjoy the things that were once second nature (like sewing!) Congratulations and I hope you have fun thinking of lovely names….

  31. Congratulation, I will be thinking of you and your new baby. I had a similar sad experience to you and found it hard to relax and enjoy the next pregnancy at first. I hope these next few months are happy and healthy and wish much happiness for your growing family.x

  32. Oh congratulations! I had an inkling… As a mother of 4 I have to say that it is a wonderful number. Although we have the 2 youngest wanting another one and 3 (including my husband) who say absolutely not. Fair enough. My youngest is 8 1/2 and that would be a bit of a step backwards. I’m so happy for you. And you have a very wise and supportive husband. YAY.

  33. wonderful news! I feel happy for you and your family! I understand what you mean about not wanting to share right away. I have lost a few pregnancies and when I got pregnant with Ellie (who is now 1 year old) I wanted to keep from sharing. But then I figured that the more I shared, the more positive thoughts would come our way! Grow nice and strong little baby!

  34. Congratulations Molly! I just gave birth to baby number 4 two weeks ago. I’m glad you’re feeling better; I have suffered with morning sickness every pregnancy so I know what a relief it is when that second trimester comes. God bless you and your family.

  35. Congrats! I’m right there with you… I’m in the middle of week 13 and my 8th week stuck in bed with unbelievable morning sickness. Thank goodness for wonderful, supportive partners, eh?

  36. Congratulations! How exciting! I’m with your husband… rest up! You’re growing a new human being in there! (Speaking from someone who just got done doing that a second time recently!). Take care and I’ll say a prayer for your family and your new addition!

  37. Congratulations!! This is wonderful news and I agree about the “telling” so you can have big groups of prayer and the focusing on “rest” to grow that little one. I love following the encouraging path of your family through your blog and can’t wait to see the adventures that a new little one throws into the mix!

  38. Congratulations, Molly! I too am tentatively expecting after two miscarriages. It’s hard to put your hope and love out in to the universe, but in the end you will reap the rewards. Much love to you and your family…

  39. Congratulations! What wonderful news. I am so sorry the first trimester was rough. I’m nearing the end of my pregnancy with my fourth child, and this was the most difficult pregnancy (have also had miscarriages so I know what that’s like), but having three children around also reminds me viscerally of the joy to come and keeps me going. Hope you have an energetic and peaceful second trimester.

  40. So happy for you and your family! The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. May the name of the Lord be praised. Job 1:21

  41. Congratulations! How you managed 3 kids while feeling like that is beyond me! Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well. I with those who vote for Texas -girl or boy!

  42. Molly, that is such wonderful news! I’m glad the blue days are behind you and now you can spend time thinking of names like Texas. We have always been fond of names like “The Commodore”. I’m just sayin….

  43. Congratulations! This is wonderful news! Enjoy your rest. Take your rest. Many prayers for you, your family, and this new little one are headed your way.

  44. Molly, this is such happy news. Congratulations. I hope that the rest of the pregnancy is a little easier for you. Blessings to you and your family.

  45. OH my gosh Molly!!! This is awesome news, yay! Congratulations to you all! And the names the kids are tossing around are adorable. 🙂 Yes, listen to your husband, grow a baby & rest.

  46. Molly, I’ve had a nutty couple of weeks and was not at all caught up here — didn’t realize this gorgeous news till your post today!

    Yip-yip-yippeeee! I’m so very happy for y’all.

  47. I’m behind on my blog reading and embarrassed this is so late, but I’ll still say it: this is GREAT news! And extra congrats on getting to the end of that yucky first trimester.

  48. I’ve been away from your blog for too long. What wonderful news! Yes, all the other ‘stuff’ can wait so to speak…hope the remainder of your pregnancy goes well.
