Good!will

Oh, newly-discovered Goodwill. You were good to us today:
P1010013
Soft summery sheets. (for swirly-girly dresses)
A green metal bird bucket. (any inspiration on how to put it to use?)
A pretty yellow teapot with a crackle finish (by the same company as these faves of mine)
And best of all, a shiny-new pair of green chucks for a five year old. (erin, are you jealous? you probably have a pair of your own.)

And of course a few books:
P1010017
The girls are really digging reference books lately. Ever since my sister (who needs to expand her blog now that the puppies are sold. She’s so stinkin’ creative!!) bought them a horse reference manual for Christmas.
And another children’s book whose illustrations caught my eye; and a Book of Common Prayer for Dan.

When we turned into the parking lot this morning and the girls discovered we’d found a new Goodwill store, they squealed with pure joy. You would have thought I’d told them tomorrow’s Christmas. I’ve trained them well.
And Emma is the ultimate deal-maker once we’re in there:
"Mom, if you’ll just let us look at the toys FIRST, I will let you look at all the fabric you want!"
She’ll let me?? What a girl.

  1. The green bucket screams “birdseed” to me. We are forever looking for good containers for our feeder food.

  2. yes, yes, i am jealous because i don’t have shoes like that. lucky emma! and don’t get me started on those sheets…i never find good ones like that.

i love the deal maker of the group. she knows how to get what she wants! i have one of those, too and she happens to be five also…

  3. what great finds!

you are one of the only few people that refer to “chucks” as “chucks”!! (besides all the people in Pgh., maybe its a regional thing).

  4. I want to come and play at your house! Your strawberry shortcakes looked delicious, your op shop finds look charming – I love popping into your site!

  5. That is sooooo my family too!! We’d finish dinner and before the dishes are even off the table we’d all agree to go to the thrift store! I love those Chuck’s!!! I found a pair of turquoise high tops with floral lining that are size 13, I’m waiting for a lucky little girl who wants them, or for Eden to be 8 yrs old. Josiah has black high tops with flames down the sides. It’s his 4th pair, but his first new pair.Josiah’s still a bit young to bargain the way Emma does, but oh man, he knows where the toys are and how the system works! I miss my Atlanta thrift store, I might just have to make the hour and a half drive to visit it 🙁

  6. awesome. i love to make things out of sheets- they’re so soft!

and my kiddos love reference books, too – we got my 4yo a honkin’ big book about trains for his bday – lots of pictures and he loves it.

  7. awesome loot!what about using your new little green bird bucket for fabric scraps? you know those little guys too big to throw away and too small to fold back up and return to the shelves….

  8. Oh, you got Petunia! That was one of my mom’s and my favorite books when I was little. We still quote lines from it to each other. (How dorky are we?)

  9. Just found your blog– love your photos and design sense. Beautiful kids! I went to etsy, but it looks like your all sold out. Now I want to go to Good will.
