Change Is Good

I finally made the big step and upgraded my typepad account. I was getting bored with the predesigned templates and wanted to do something that was a little more ‘me’. I have been playing around with different banner images and this one seems to be the banner du jour. Who knows, it might look different tomorrow. I also changed my blog name from ‘mommycoddle’ to ‘mollycoddle’. Mollycoddle is the name of a small business I was trying to run out of my home for the last few years. But for now, I’ve put that on hold until I decide what I want to do with it. So, in the meantime, I thought I would take the name back and use it for my blog again.

I made this needle book today out of dire necessity. I can NEVER find an embriodery needle when I need it. I stash them all over the house–in little dishes on the window sill, tucked into my dresser scarf, pinned on my chest (then left to go through the wash). As you can see, I could only find two today for the picture, so I’ll have to do some searching for the rest. I made it with a stash of wool felt, floss and a cloth covered vintage button that I got in a package from Cassi. Now, I just have to keep from losing this needlebook.
I wanted to pink the edges but I couldn’t find my pinking sheers. I wonder why:

This is my craft cupboard that still hasn’t recovered from Christmas projects. I’ve even removed all the fabric to an upstairs closet. I think this may be a good project for me this week. Hopefully, I’ll have an ‘after’ shot to go with this one, later in the week.

Someone else is taking advantage of the cupboard as well…I keep ‘losing’ Henry, only to find him in strange little hideouts, like my bag of yarn, or the bin of dirty laundry. Obviously, from this picture, you can tell he’s adjusting well to life in our home.

  1. I love your banner, so original. Those buttons you’ve made are so beautiful. I also love the name change, it feels good to personalize, doesn’t it?

  2. Ooo….I love the way your new blog looks. Your little kitty is so cute!!! Ack, I want a cat again. Mine’s living with my mom in Oregon right now. Good job making a needle book. Mine always get lost, too; but I’m trying to be good and just keep them in the pincushion like my other needles.

  3. Love the new name and the look.I have been working on a new blog too. It’s harder to customize than blogger so it’s going along slow. I keep waiting till this or that happens before I take the big leap but I’ve come to the conclusion to just do it and see what happens. My mom maybe needing some of your buttons (which are great by the way) so let me know when you have some more available.

  4. Pretty needle book! I also LOVE the library tote you made for your niece Emily. The mess in your cupboard made me laugh as my own cupboard looks similar and Henry (love the name) looks so nice sleeping in there.

  5. I really like your new header and name change; I’ve been wanting to play around with mine but hate to get started down that bumpy road again 😉 Henry looks so cute – it’s amazing the places cats will find to nap!

  6. Ah, but you needed to have a needle to make your needle holder! I need to buy some needles to so I can make a needle holder too. Right now, the only known needle in our family is in the fabric roof of our Trooper.

  7. I love your new banner and that is a cool name change. I get so frustated I would like to have the skills of a web designer or graphic artist. Maybe when the kids are at school I could do some study.

  8. love the new header! lovelovelove. I keep thinking I might make the jump to typepad… might have to pick your brain about it a little, though.
